My TEDx Talk: The Freedom to Learn

Last month, I got to participate in a TEDx event in Las Vegas, where I was one of 17 speakers lucky enough to share an idea — or, in my case, three questions — worth spreading. Please check it out — and if you like it, please help me spread the word via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Cheers!

  • The problem is that we are always looking for questions and answers to solve the problems of society. Social problems would take care of themselves if we would look for questions and answers from the point of view of the developing child whose job it is to grow up to become a mature and responsible adult.

  • Some of brightest students become “disengaged” or “at-risk” because education has become so disempowering. The power or excitement of learning becomes self-driven when students can have some voice in what they are learning and how they are learning it. So much of what we need as citizens is curiousity and as we look at adult society so many adults are passive – their heads are open and the media is dropping the ladels full and they are hitting the target rather than adults thinking for themselves and questioning.
